Platform labels are places to look, not guaranteed playback. “Find locally” means we have a series reference but no confirmed local viewing route. For a short break, check the exact runtime in your player; story bundles can be longer.

Gentle Easygoing LivelyGentle is the quietest category. Easygoing includes more conversation or learning activity. Lively is for active viewing, not winding down.
3 free picks How lively is it?

Carefully researched. Clearly explained. Sources, sensitivity notes, and a little real-life connection with every pick.

How we choose, and what the research can tell us

We mainly select for gentler storytelling, smaller-scale stakes, and room to follow a story, with a clearly labelled lively option for active viewing. Programme information and linked references support the show notes. Our practical family tools draw on American Academy of Pediatrics guidance. These sources inform the guide; the programme selections and suggested swaps are Slowberry’s editorial choices.

Ages. The age bands are editorial starting points, not official ratings or developmental tests. Check the local rating and your child’s sensitivities. The guide covers ages 2–11; it does not recommend viewing for under-twos.

Energy. Gentle is our quietest category: more pauses and quieter delivery. Easygoing includes conversation, mild comedy, songs, or hands-on learning, with occasional busier moments. Lively marks energetic music, movement, or action, and is not a wind-down choice. Filter for Gentle or Easygoing when quieter viewing is your priority. The bars are editorial impressions of pace and sound; individual episodes and children’s responses vary.

Learning. Learning-led identifies programmes built around a learning purpose. Story & feelings identifies themes worth discussing. Just for fun is entertainment. A learning theme does not guarantee a developmental benefit.

The AAP’s 5 Cs consider the child, the content, ways of calming, what media crowds out, and communication. Our tools turn that guidance into a practical starting point: choose thoughtfully, agree an ending, and leave room for the rest of the day.

Choose for this child

Consider their interests, sensitivities, and response to a show. We make those checks easier with age-fit and heads-up notes.

AAP: the 5 Cs

Plan the ending before play

Turn off autoplay and protect family routines. The viewing plan and caregiver handoff give everyone one clear stopping point.

AAP: family media plans

Help with the switch-off moment

Keep your words brief, acknowledge disappointment, and have an inviting next activity. Our transition cards offer phrases to adapt.

AAP: screen-time transitions

Children respond differently to the same story. Use the heads-up notes to choose for your child, and preview unfamiliar episodes. A gentler pace does not remove every upsetting theme or guarantee an easier afternoon. Your feedback helps us correct information and improve the guide.

A few things you might be wondering.

What am I actually buying?+

A researched viewing guide for ages 2–11: 62 hand-picked shows (30 for ages 2–4, 22 for 5–7, 10 for 8–11), 30 show swaps and screen-free alternatives, practical screen-time tools, a seven-day plan, and 15 PDFs across three age groups (five printable formats per age). $45 USD once, with any applicable tax shown at checkout. No subscription. Television episodes and streaming subscriptions are not included.

Will I have to read the whole thing?+

No. Choose an age, read one of the starting picks, and use one printable. The rest is there for the day you need it.

What makes these gentler choices?+

We favour quieter delivery, smaller everyday problems, and room to follow a story. Gentle is the quietest category. Easygoing includes more conversation, mild comedy, songs, or learning activity. LazyTown is included as a clearly labelled Lively option for active viewing, not winding down. Use the energy filter to find the quieter choices. Each has a heads-up note: a gentler pace cannot guarantee that every episode will suit every child. Not every show is designed to teach.

What does “researched” mean here?+

Programme facts are linked to broadcasters, makers, and labelled secondary references. Practical guidance draws on the American Academy of Pediatrics. Our age fit, swaps, and liveliness ratings are editorial judgments. We use the research to inform practical choices, and parent feedback to improve the experience. The linked guidance does not endorse individual shows or guarantee a particular result.

Where can we watch the shows?+

Links point to official catalogues or series references. Availability depends on your country, subscription, and the episode. Older titles marked “Find locally” may be harder to obtain. Check access before promising a show or buying a subscription.

How do I get back in?+

Keep the license key in your Gumroad receipt. Use “Already have the guide?” on a new device. Your favourites and age choice stay on each device. Download the printable PDFs so you can use them offline. If access fails, use Feedback & purchase help.

What does online access cover?+

Your purchase includes the current toolkit and printable files, with online access while Slowberry operates. Download your PDFs for offline use. Lifetime hosting, a schedule of future additions, and particular results are not promised.

Can I share the printables?+

Yes, with the people caring for your child for your own family’s use. Please do not resell the guide, publish the files, or share your purchase key publicly.
